In this workshop you will identify your story about food and dieting. You will discover how dieting has disturbed your natural relationship with food. You will begin to create a new story, free from obsession.

When Cherie Rodney was twelve years old she was eleven pounds overweight, and went on her first diet. After years of dieting and bingeing, that eleven pounds crept up to seventy pounds excess weight. In this workshop she will reveal how she stopped dieting, and how she eventually shed not only the seventy pounds, but also her obsession with dieting. Out of her own experience she has developed a program that anybody can follow.
Cherie lives in Glasgow. She is the the author of Naturally Slim Without Dieting!
She has led numerous workshops with hundreds of participants. and has appeared on UK National Television including Channel 4 Food File and Good Morning with Nick and Anne.
Paul Browde M.D. is co-founder of Narativ, along with Murray Nossel, PhD. Together, they are co-authors and performers in the acclaimed storytelling performance Two Men Talking. He is Assistant Clinical Professor at NYU Medical School and teaches in the Masters of Narrative Medicine Program at Columbia University. As a psychotherapist, Paul has spent the last twenty years engaged in the practice of deep listening, focusing particularly on the reciprocal relationship between listening and telling.
Paul is thrilled to be co-leading this workshop with Cherie Rodney, whom he met at medical school in South Africa almost thirty years ago, and whose work on eating and dieting has influenced his thinking and his practice.

New York City STORY SLAM NIGHT AT BARROW STREET THEATRE

Join Murray Nossel and Paul Browde, the performers of Two Men Talking as they host an evening of storytelling at the Barrow Street Theatre with an open mic for those who have stories to tell!
This event will feature the following storytellers who have all trained in the Narativ storytelling methodology: Carol Barash, Eliana Kwartler, Susan Calhoun Moss and Charlie Moss, Andrew Barrett, Jerome Deroy, Benaifer Bhadha, Tim Connell, Hannah Oberman-Breindel.
We will also have an open mic for those who feel inspired to tell their story, so come with a story ready to go.
And we'll give away tickets to Two Men Talking as well as spots in Narativ storytelling workshops!
No jury, no interpretation, no evaluations, just a set of rules:
1. The story must be true
2. The story must be about something that happened to YOU.
3. The story cannot be more than 7 minutes long
4. The story has to answer the question "What happened?"
5. The story will be told without a script or notes
6. Each storyteller tells a story that has to (or wants to) be told
The $20 entry fee includes a glass of wine or beer.
